Louis Garcia is a native of San Antonio and a current resident of Corpus Christi. He first became interested in art while in junior high school in San Antonio. His interest continued through high school where he won awards for painting posters for the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes, and he continued with studies in commercial art at San Antonio College.
A stint in the U.S. Navy took Louis to South Vietnam where he served as a Naval Advisor in the Mekong Delta. As an Agent Orange cancer survivor Louis embraces life each day with appreciation and the determination to find the beauty in each moment and record it with his brushes and palette knife.
“My art is a reflection of me and my world”, he says. I have a deep appreciation for the moments that often pass us by too quickly”. And those moments are captured in oils as he paints ‘en plein aire’ on location throughout the Coastal Bend area of South Texas and his more recent ventures to Boerne and the surrounding Hill Country.
Louis’ contemporary landscape works capture color and movement through the use of a painting / palette knife and reveal compositions permeated with rich colors that enhance our everyday environment. His portrait paintings reveal his care and respect for all humanity by capturing the essence, spirit and originality of each individual.
“I would love to meet you and would be happy to discuss the origin of my paintings and my painting style with you.” louisgarcia2003@yahoo.com
